New Air Service Agreements formally signed

New Air Services Agreements between Singapore and Norway, Denmark and Sweden, respectively, were formally signed today.  Mr. Erik Lahnstein, State Secretary of the Royal Ministry of Transport and Communications, signed on behalf of Norway, while Mr. Raymond Lim, Minister for Transport and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, signed on behalf of Singapore.  Representatives of the Danish and Swedish Embassies in Oslo signed on behalf of Denmark and Sweden, respectively.

The agreements were signed today at the Minister’s conference room at the Royal Ministry of Transport and Communications in Oslo. Air services negotiations were held between Singapore and the three Scandinavian countries in Singapore in January 2008.  The Parties agreed at that time to enter into new liberal bilateral Air Services Agreements replacing the existing ones from 1966.

Norway, Denmark and Sweden enter into separate bilateral Air Services Agreements with Singapore, but the Agreements are in principle identical.

According to the new Air Services Agreements, airlines from both the Scandinavian countries and Singapore may operate between any points in Scandinavia and Singapore via and further on to any intermediate points, without limitations with regard to capacity, number of flights or type of aircraft.

For all-cargo flights, the airlines may in addition set up a cargo hub in the territory of the other Party.
