Helen Bjørnøy of the Socialist Left Party (SV) was appointed Minister of Environment on 17 October 2005.
She is joined by Henriette Westhrin as state secretary and Kjetil Bjørklund as political advisor.
Helen Bjørnøy comes from the position as general secretary of the Church City Mission in Oslo (1999-2005). She is an ordained Lutheran priest with a professional background that includes teaching at the Lovisenberg Deaconal University College, Oslo (1991-1999).
