In today’s session of the Council of State the Crown Prince Regent has appointed Ms. Anniken Huitfeldt (38), Member of Storting, Jessheim, as Minister of Children and Equality as of today at 12.30 pm.
In today’s session of the Council of State the Crown Prince Regent has appointed Ms. Anniken Huitfeldt (38), Member of Storting, Jessheim, as Minister of Children and Equality as of today at 12.30 pm. From the same point of time Minister of Culture and Church Affairs Trond Giske has been freed from his responsibility as acting chief of the Ministry of Children and Equality (BLD).

Anniken Huitfeldt is Labour Party Member of the Storting for the County of Akershus since 2005, and was deputy member for the periods 2001-2005 and 1993-1997. She was research officer at at the Fafo Institute for Labour and Social Research 2000-2005. Huitfeldt was leader of the Labour Party Youth League 1996-2000, and became Cand. Philol. at the University of Oslo in 1996, majoring in history and with political science and geography as other subjects. She studied at the London School of Economics 1992-1993.
Mr. Kjell Erik Øie has today been reappointed as state secretary to Ms. Huitfeldt, while Ms. Lotte Grepp Knutsen from 14 March has been appointed political advisor to Ms. Huitfeldt.
