Ministry changes from 2010

In the 18 December session of the Council of State some changes were undertaken in the structure of ministries as of 1 January 2010. The changes were announced when Government changes were made on 20 October this year. Budgetary effects for 2010 have been incorporated in the national budget.

The changes imply that four new ministries will be established while four existing ministries will be abolished. In addition, the Ministry of Justice will have a new department.

Ministry of Labour
The new Ministry of Labour (AD) will consist of the former Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion with the exception of immigration affairs, social inclusion affairs and Sami and minority affairs. The ministry will also have the responsibility for public pension affairs, until now handled by the Ministry of Government Administration and Reform.

Secretary General Ellen Seip in the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion has been appointed to the same office in the Ministry of Labour from 1 January 2010.

Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion
The new Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion (BLD) will consist of the former Ministry of Children and Equality and social inclusion affairs transferred from the former Ministry of Government Administration and Reform.

Secretary General Harald Nybøen in the Ministry of Children and Equality has been appointed to the same office in the Ministry of Children, Equality and Social Inclusion from 1 January 2010.

Ministry of Government Administration, Reform and Church Affairs
The new Ministry of Government Administration, Reform and Church Affairs (FAD) will consist of the former Ministry of Government Administration and Reform with the exception of public pension affairs, church affairs transferred from the former Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs, and Sami and minority affairs transferred from the former Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion.

Secretary General Karin Moe Røisland in the Ministry of Government Administration and Reform has been appointed to the same office in the Ministry of Government Administration, Reform and Church Affairs from 1 January 2010.

Ministry of Culture
The new Ministry of Culture (KUD) will consist of the former Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs except church affairs.

Secretary General Kristin Berge in the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs has been appointed to the same office in the Ministry of Culture from 1 January 2010.

Immigration affairs to the Ministry of Justice and the Police
The Ministry of Justice and the Police will have immigration affairs, except labour immigration, transferred from the former Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion.
