Bill gates to visit Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg

On Monday 16 May Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg will meet with Bill Gates, Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The meeting will take place in the Prime Minister’s Residence in Oslo, at Inkognitogaten 18, at 08.30. There will be a photo pool at the beginning of the meeting.

After the meeting, at 09.45, Stoltenberg and Gates will have a joint press conference in the Press Room at Government Guest House, Riddervolds gate 2.

Stoltenberg and Gates will discuss how to enhance efforts to vaccinate the world’s children. The two have for several years now cooperated closely in order to reduce the mortality of children in poor countries.

GAVI, the Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunisation, was launched in 2000, with initial support from Bill Gates and Norway. GAVI has since contributed to vaccinate more than 250 million children and, according to World Health Organisation estimates, saved more than five million lives.
