From 12 to 15 December Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg is visiting the South Pole to mark the centenary of Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen and his team reaching the Pole in 1911, and to underline the importance of the Antarctic continent in relation to global climate change.
From 12 to 15 December Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg is visiting the South Pole to mark the centenary of Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen and his team reaching the Pole in 1911, and to underline the importance of the Antarctic continent in relation to global climate change.
The Prime Minister arrived at the South Pole on Monday 12 December. He will meet with scientists working at the South Pole, and on Wednesday 14 December he will speak at the centenary celebration.
On 15 December Mr Stoltenberg will leave the South Pole, visiting the two research bases at the Ross Sea: New Zealand’s Scott Base and USA’s McMurdo Base.
