"The US is Norway's most important ally. Our relationship is based on common values and interests. In an unpredictable world, strong US leadership is of great importance," said Mr Stoltenberg.
"I look forward to further developing our excellent and close relationship with the US. We work closely together in the field of security policy and in NATO. Together with the US, we also intend to continue the struggle against global poverty and further our efforts to improve maternal and child health in developing countries," said Mr Stoltenberg.
