Decision on systemically important financial institutions

The Ministry of Finance has today decided that DNB ASA, Nordea Bank Norge ASA and Kommunalbanken AS shall still be designated as systemically important in Norway, in accordance with advice from the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway (Finanstilsynet).
Pursuant to capital requirements legislation adopted in 2013, which is based on the Basel III standards and the CRR/CRD IV framework, systemically important financial institutions in Norway shall fulfil a separate capital buffer requirement of 1 per cent CET1 capital from 1 July 2015 and 2 per cent from 1 July 2016. Last year, the Ministry of Finance designated DNB ASA, Nordea Bank Norge ASA and Kommunalbanken AS, as systemically important, with effect from 30. June 2014. According to the Norwegian regulations on systemically important financial institutions the decision shall be considered every year.
The Ministry has today decided that DNB ASA, Nordea Bank Norge ASA and Kommunalbanken AS shall still be designated as systemically important in Norway.
