The Ministry of Finance has asked the Securities Law Commission (“Verdipapirlovutvalget”) to provide a report on how expected EEA rules on corporate sustainability reporting can be implemented in Norwegian law.
On 21 April 2021, the European Commission adopted a proposal for a Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which would amend existing reporting requirements of the Non-financial Reporting Directive (NFRD). The proposed directive is considered EEA relevant.
The Securities Law Commission shall provide its report to the Ministry of Finance by 20 May 2022, or later if necessary, to take into account final adoption of the directive, or a political agreement between the European Parliament and Council.
