The fight against antimicrobial resistance cannot be won by a single country. That is why the Norwegian Minister of Health- and Care Services, Mr. Bent Høie, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Mr. Jon Georg Dale and the Minister of Fisheries Mr. Per Sandberg will gather high level international and Nordic stakeholders and experts to a seminar about the fight against antibiotic resistance with an One Health approach.
We have to set ambitious goals to make sure antibiotics stay a common good for future generations. Antimicrobail resistance is a fast growing problem all over the world and is a serious threat to global health. The problem must be met in a one-health perspective nationally and globally.
- We might face a situation in 30 to 40 years where we cannot treat diseases that we have been able to treat since the 1920s. It might make modern cancer treatments and large-scale operations impossible. That is why I am glad that some of Norway's and the world's foremost expertise will gather in Ålesund this June. I hope to see many of you there, says health- and care minister Bent Høie.
Time and date: 27. June 2017, Kl. 10.00-15.30
Where: Scandic Parken hotel, Aalesund
A broad panel of politicians and experts from health, food safety, veterinary medicine, agriculture, fisheries, environment, surveillance and research will gather in Ålesund prior to the Nordic Council of Ministers assembly on June 28-29th 2017.
You can meet Vytenis Andriukaitis, EUs commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Professor Dame Sally Davis and many more.
