Starting 1 July 2020, a new Interim Act relating to entry restrictions for foreign nationals out of concern for public health will enter into force along with associated Regulations.
The new Act and the new Regulations replace the Regulations relating to rejection etc. of foreign nationals out of concern for public health, which is to be repealed from the same date. In large part, the new Act and the new Regulations extend the entry restrictions contained in the Regulations being replaced.
The special new Act does not represent a tightening of existing provisions on entry restrictions and rejection of foreign nationals, but provides a new legal basis for extending provisions that limit access to Norway when necessary to safeguard public health in connection with the COVID-19 outbreak. The Government’s aim in any case is a gradual easing.
The Act authorises the continued use of entry restrictions out of concern for public health until 1 November 2020.
