The Ministry of Justice and Public Security has instructed the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) that people who have been legally residing in Russia may be refused residence and can be deported from the country.
All asylum applications from people who have traveled to Norway from Russia, and probably will be rejected (negative decision), shall be treated quickly.
– Immigration to Norway is controlled and strictly regulated. We have noticed that several of the asylum seekers that are coming now have a strong connection to Russia through dual citizenship, residence permits or visas. It is important that the Norwegian authorities are sending a clear signal to people who do not need protection or already are legally residing in Russia, says Mr. Anders Anundsen, Minister of Justice and Public Security.
