A youth delegation from Ukraine visited the Ministry of Climate and Environment August 2014.
The delegation was informed about Norwegian Climate and environmental policies of Norway and informed about their work as an NGO in Ukraine.
The Ministry informed that Nordic countries has successfully co-operated with Ukraine on energy efficiency projects for several years through NEFCO, and the co-operation was formally confirmed in an agreement in 2010.
The Nordic Environmental Finance Corporation (NEFCO) is involved in 35 projects and 14 are fully financed and under implementation in Ukrainian municipalities.
Cross-boarder co-operation with Ukraine is possible under the EEA grants with non-EU Members. Ukraine is also a candidate for youth and environmental projects with neighbouring countries like Slovakia under the EEA Grants.
The overall aim of the EEA Grants is to strengthen bilateral co-operation and reduce inequalities in Central and Eastern Europe.
Representatives from the NGO were invited to a Cross Border Cooperation Conference to be held in Kirkenes 6-7 November by the Barents Secretariate.
