Invitation: Act #ForNature global forum

The Act #ForNature forum will be convened under the leadership of Mr. Sveinung Rotevatn, President of the UN Environment Assembly and Minister of Climate and Environment of Norway, and Ms. Inger Andersen, Under Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). The Act #ForNature forum is the first global consultation in support of the 5th Session of the world’s highest-level decision-making body on the environment – the UN Environment Assembly – that will be held at the United Nations Environment Programme Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya in February 2021.

The opening session titled “Working with the Environment to Protect People in a post-Covid world” will provide insights on the upcoming fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly, whose theme is “Strengthening Actions for Nature to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”.

“We need to keep up the work on solving environmental challenges in spite of changing circumstances. The pandemic has, if anything, made our work more important.” Said Mr. Rotevatn.

The forum’s extensive agenda covers healthy ecosystems, nature and business, marine plastics, the global food systems and youth voices for nature. Speakers include ministers of environment and a range of experts from business, academia, civil society and international organisations.

“Nature is the foundation for achieving the sustainable development goals. Nature is the solution we in many ways take for granted, but that we cannot afford to lose”, said Mr. Rotevatn.
