Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Tord Lien, participated Tuesday at the International IO-Conference for researchers and industry in Trondheim. In his speech, he adressed the central importance of research and innovation in the petroleum industry.
- The success story of the Norwegian petroleum sector is a result of dedication and effort from all actors involved – operators, suppliers, research institutions, and a sound and predictable framework, Minister Lien said in his speech.
Minister Lien also met with representatives of the Brazilian oil company Petrobras, to discuss the bilateral research programme agreement ”Brazil-Norway in the 21st Century” (BN21). The BN21 agreement was signed last year, and the authorities are currently working to improve cooperation between the industry and research groups in the two countries.
- The government wants to strengthen the research and technology development capacity, both nationally and internationally. The Brazilian-Norwegian research agreement is a prime example of how joint research programmes will benefit both countries, says the Norwegian Petroleum and Energy Minister, Tord Lien.
