The opportunities for full scale carbon capture, transport and storage in Norway was the main issue when the Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Tord Lien met with Vice-President of the Commission Maroš Šefčovič.
- The Commission shows great interest in our work on CCS, and we will follow up with new meetings in Brussels this autumn. The Commission's support is crucial to bring the work on CCS forward in Europe, says Tord Lien.
The feasibility study report on full-scale carbon capture, transport and storage (CCS) in Norway was presented last week. The study shows that realising a full-scale CCS chain in Norway by 2022 is possible and at lower costs than for projects considered in Norway earlier.
Lien and Šefčovič met in the context of the informal EU energy ministers' council meeting in Bratislava.
