This week, heads of state and government from all over the world are meeting at the UN. They have come together to discuss a number of major common challenges, such as climate change, environmental degradation and development issues. But this is also an arena where many other issues – both major and minor – can be raised.
‘We need a strong UN to solve many of the serious problems we see in the world today. The opening of the UN General Assembly is a unique opportunity to promote Norwegian interests and initiatives, and not least international cooperation,’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende.
The Norwegian delegation is led by Prime Minister Erna Solberg, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende and Minister of Climate and Environment Vidar Helgesen. Members of the Storting (Norwegian parliament) are also represented.
