I would like to thank President Macron for hosting this meeting, and for challenging us to intensify our efforts to protect the environment, both nationally and internationally.
I applaud the commitment you have shown to putting some of the biggest challenges of our times on the agenda of state leaders, both through this initiative and the summit on climate change that you are organising in December.
A more thorough consideration of the proposal will be necessary. I am sure you will receive a lot of input on the specific content of the initiative that you are launching today.
The main message I would like to convey is that Norway strongly supports the aim of mobilising strong political support for the effective implementation of existing international agreements in the field of climate change and the environment.
We therefore value the French initiative and are ready to participate in discussions on how best to achieve its political aims.
