Coup in Thailand

‘It is worrying that the military have seized power in Thailand. It is now vital that the military show restraint, that human rights are respected and the use of violence is avoided,’ said Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende.

The military coup in Thailand follows a long period of political turmoil in the country. 

‘I expect the democratic process to be reinstated as quickly as possible with a view to establishing a legitimate government elected by the people. Such a process is also crucial for political reconciliation,’ said Mr Brende.
