'We note that the planned Palestinian parliamentary elections have been postponed', State Secretary Audun Halvorsen said after the postponement of the elections.
'While there may be difficult obstacles to overcome in holding an election in Palestine, there is a need to renew the democratic legitimacy of the Palestinian Authority at regular intervals. This is also a clear demand from the Palestinian people. It has been 15 years since the last election was held in Palestine, and we urge the Palestinian Authority, all Palestinian factions and Israel to do their utmost to ensure that elections can be held in the near future', the State Secretary Halvorsen said.
