Tonight, the UN Security Council adopted a new resolution on the situation in Afghanistan. 'The Security Council demands full and unhindered access for humanitarian actors in Afghanistan and emphasizes the importance of all parties complying with international humanitarian law', the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ine Eriksen Søreide said.
,The Security Council expects the Taliban to contribute to the safe exit of Afghans. It is important that Afghanistan does not become a hotbed of terror again, and that all parties contribute to security around the airport in Kabul. At the same time, the Security Council emphasizes the importance of safeguarding human rights, including for women, children and minorities, an encourages all parties to seek an inclusive, negotiated political settlement, with the full, equal and meaningful participation of women', the Minister said.
