- I am pleased that Frode Elgesem, with his extensive experience in this area, will be the new chair of Norway’s National Contact Point for responsible business conduct. The NCP is a unique expert body with the important task of following up Norway’s commitment to promote the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide.
Mr Elgesem will replace Mr Ola Mestad, who has chaired the NCP for the past four years.
- I would like to thank Ola Mestad for his skilled leadership of the NCP. He has helped to place responsible conduct high on the agenda in Norway’s business sector, Ms Eriksen Søreide said.
The NCP also has a new member: Ms Beate Ekeløve-Slydal, political adviser at Amnesty International Norway. She was appointed by Foreign Minister Eriksen Søreide as a representative of civil society.
The National Contact Point for responsible business conduct is an independent body that provides advice and guidance to Norwegian multinational enterprises. It also deals with instances of alleged non-observance of the OECD Guidelines by Norwegian companies.
