State Secretary Hagen visits Moscow on 15-16 April

The exhibition includes over 100 works, mostly from the Munch Museum in Oslo.   

Several of Munch’s most famous works will be on display, including The Girls on the Bridge, Madonna, Vampire, Puberty, The Dance of Life and an early sketch of The Scream. The exhibition also includes graphic works and objects from Munch’s life. This is the first time the scope of Munch’s legacy is being shown in Russia.

The exhibition is the result of an exchange between the Munch Museum in Oslo and the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow. An exhibition entitled The Swan Princess: Russian art 1880-1910 is being shown at the Munch Museum until 21 April. It will be followed by another exhibition from the Tretyakov Gallery at the new Munch Museum in Bjørvika in 2020.

‘This exhibition marks a milestone in Norwegian-Russian cultural relations. Through their cooperation, the Munch Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery are giving us the opportunity to get to know the finest artists from each other’s country,’ said Ms Hagen.  

The Tretyakov Gallery will be organising lectures, film screenings, book launches and a music festival in connection with the Munch exhibition, which is expected to attract large numbers of visitors. Edvard Munch at the Tretyakov Gallery will be open from 15 April to 14 July.
