‘As a small nation, we have everything to gain from promoting a well-ordered world with stable and predictable forms of international cooperation. We must give priority to binding multilateral cooperation in order to safeguard the security and welfare of Norwegian citizens. The white paper on Norway’s role and interests in multilateral cooperation will be an important tool in these efforts,’ said Ms Eriksen Søreide said.
During the visit by the German Foreign Minister, the Norwegian Government’s new strategy for Norway’s relations with Germany will also be launched. The two foreign ministers will hold bilateral talks on important European, foreign policy and security policy issues.
‘Germany is a key EU country and Norway’s most important partner in Europe. Norway and Germany share similar views on a great many issues, not least the importance of international cooperation and a rules-based world order. It is precisely for this reason that I am looking forward to launching the white paper together with my German colleague,’ Ms Eriksen Søreide said.
The launch of the white paper will take place at the Nobel Peace Center (Brynjulf Bulls plass 1). Members of the press and others who are interested are welcome to attend the event. The event will be held in English.
