The goal of the Dementia Plan 2020 is to build a more dementia-friendly society, where people with dementia are cared for and integrated in the community. This will require greater openness and knowledge about dementia in society in general and in the health and care services in particular.
The plan has been developed in close cooperation with people who themselves have dementia, together with their families. The plan is also based on the knowledge and experience gained from the Dementia Plan 2015 in addition to new knowledge.
The strategies and measures in the Dementia Plan 2020 are intended to help put dementia and its challenges on the agenda of ordinary municipal planning. The aim is to ensure long-term, integrated planning for the local community and the physical environment, and high-quality services designed to meet the needs of the growing number of people with dementia and their families.
Dementia is one of the greatest social challenges facing the international community, and must be meet of both globally, nationally and locally. Several countries are now making national dementia plans. The Norwegian Dementia Plan 2020 is translated into English, to meet a broader audience and to be accessible to the global community.
The plan is available in both a full-length version and a short easy access version for people with dementia and cognitive impairments.
