In the foreword of the new guidelines on implementing the National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security, Foreign Minister Børge Brende makes it clear that Norway will continue to be at the forefront of efforts to promote the women, peace and security agenda, and that the guidelines will make the Foreign Service better equipped to implement the national action plan.
The Government’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security sets out Norway’s policy for following-up the UN Security Council resolutions on women, peace and security. The guidelines are intended as a tool to help the missions abroad and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs translate this policy into practice.
Anyone who in any way works with peace and security issues is to seek to ensure that the needs, priorities and rights of both men and women are upheld.
