The Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs was established on 21 December 1956. It is listed here as the Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs (of 1956). Family and consumer affairs were transferred from an additional minister in the Ministry of Social Affairs (of 1916).
On 8 May 1972, the Ministry of Family and Consumer Affairs (of 1956) had its name changed to the Ministry of Government Administration and Consumer Affairs. Government administration affairs were transferred from the abolished Ministry of Pay and Prices.
