The Ministry of Industrial Provisioning was established on 30 April 1917. The reason was the provisioning situation during the First World War.
On 25 April 1919, whaling affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Industrial Provisioning from the Ministry of Provisioning (of 1916).
On 1 mai 1920, the Ministry of Industrial Provisioning was abolished. Military affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Defence. Industrial provisioning and export ban affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Finance and Customs. Engineering, statistics and personnel affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Trade (of 1916). Fuel affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Provisioning (of 1916).
