The Ministry of Postal Affairs was established on 18 August 1860. Post, telegraph and transport affairs were transferred from the Ministry of the Interior (of 1846).
On 2 October 1861, the Ministry of Postal Affairs (of 1860) was abolished. Affairs were transferred to the Ministry of the Navy (of 1846), which now had its name changed to the Ministry of the Navy and Postal Affairs.
