The Ministry of Provisioning (of 1916) was established on 26 August 1916. The reason was the provisioning situation during the First World War. Provisioning affairs were transferred from the Ministry of Agriculture.
On 25 April 1919, fisheries provisioning affairs were transferred from the Ministry of Provisioning (of 1916) to the Ministry of Trade (of 1916). Whaling affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Industrial Provisioning.
On 30 April 1920, fuel affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Provisining (of 1916) from the abolished Ministry of Industrial Provisioning.
On 31 October 1922, the Ministry of Provisioning (of 1916) was abolished. Prices regulation affairs were transferred to the Ministry of Social Affairs (of 1916), remaining affairs to the Ministry of Agriculture.
