The Regulation comprise textile products sold or intended sold to consumers except products mentioned in Annex I. They also include new garments made of other materials such as leather, plastic or similar materials.
Main requirements
Products covered by the Regulation shall be provided with textile care labelling. Such labelling is mandatory.
Textile care labelling means: Information as to how a normally soiled product should be washed, bleached, dry-cleaned, dried, pressed, mangled in order to become clean and at det same time retain its characteristics, so that the product may be used for its original purpose.
The labelling shall accompany the product and shall be of a permanent nature (e.g. sewed-on textile labels).
The symbols in Norwegian Standard NS-ISO 3758 may be used. Other stardardized symbols or texts in clear may be used when there is reason to believe that the labelling will be understood by the consumers.
Products which after washing or dry-cleaning give no normal use value and satisfaction shall be labelled "KAN IKKE RENGJØRES" (may not be cleaned) in conspicuous lettering set with min. 20 typographical points.
