Recreational fisheries

Recreational fisheries is an important part of norwegian coastal culture. This is mirrored in a liberal set of rules applying to norwegian recreational fishermen.
There are no quotas for fishing for your own household, but in Law on Sea resources, there are limits on what tools you can use. When fishing from land or from vessels that are not registered, these are the only tools that are allowed.
- handheld tools such as fishing rods or poles.
- one machine-driven trolling line
- fish net with total length no more than 210 meters
- up to 20 lobster traps or crab traps
