Volunteering
Voluntary organisations play an important role in the Integration and inclusion of immigrants in local communities. Through participation in voluntary organisations, newly arrived immigrants in a municipality can get to know the local community and their new neighbours and have an opportunity to practise Norwegian. The government helps the voluntary sector to create meeting places and take part in the integration work through for example grant schemes for immigrant-based organisations and other NGOs.
National Integration Conference
The government arranges an annual national integration conference. The aim of the conference is to give local immigrant organisations, immigrant councils and other actors the opportunity to share their experiences and views directly with politicians and the administration in the central government.
