Work Assessment Allowance (AAP) is a benefit from Nav (the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) for individuals with reduced work capacity due to illness, injury or defect. AAP secures income for individuals who needs work-related measures, treatment, or other follow-up activities that can help them enter or return to work.
Who is eligible for Work Assessment Allowance?
As a general rule, work capacity must be reduced by at least 50% for all types of work the person is qualified for. Work Assessment Allowance is granted to individuals who need treatment to improve their work capacity or assistance from NAV to retain or obtain employment. To receive Work Assessment Allowance, one must actively contribute to clarifying whether they can enter or return to work.
How is Work Assessment Allowance calculated?
Work Assessment Allowance (AAP) is calculated based on the income from the year before the work capacity was reduced by at least 50%. If the average income over the last three years before this point is higher, that average is used instead. AAP amounts to 66% of this income and is taxed as regular wages. The minimum annual payment is 2,041 times the basic amount. For individuals under 25 years old, the minimum annual payment is 2/3 of 2,041 times the basic amount.
