Mandate for the Ministry of Finance’s advisory panel on macroeconomic models and methods

The Ministry of Finance’s advisory panel on macroeconomic models and methods will advise on topics relevant to the Ministry’s work on macroeconomic issues, and strengthen the Ministry’s contact with academic institutions.
The advisory panel is to provide expert judgment and advice on:
- The development and use of economic models, with a view to ensuring that the analytical tools used by the Ministry are well adapted to their purpose.
- The analyses reported to Parliament in the annual National Budget and in the regular white papers on long-term perspectives for the Norwegian economy.
- The presentation of macroeconomic topics in the annual National Budget reports and in the regular white papers on long-term perspectives for the Norwegian economy.
The panel consists of a Chairman and up to nine members. Appointments are for a period of two years. Members may be reappointed.
The panel shall, jointly with the Ministry, organise open seminars on topics related to economic models and methods relevant to the Ministry’s work. Such seminars shall be organised regularly, preferably annually.
The Ministry of Finance will act as the panel’s secretariat. Minutes of the panel’s meetings will be published on the Ministry’s web site.
