Your excellencies. Dear Presidency.

First, in the challenging geopolitical context of today, let me underline, Norway’s clear position is that violations of international law are unacceptable. There is no room for double standards.

Congratulations on successfully hosting the G20 energy transition working group, as well as the CEM and MI ministerial.

Knowing the importance of the G20 for building a better future, we thank you for giving Norway the opportunity – and the great responsibility – of being a guest country.

We fully support the priorities you have laid out during your presidency. We are pleased to see the outcomes of your hard work.

Your excellencies, distinguished colleagues

Tripling global renewables, for the much-needed energy transition, requires mobilisation of all sources of financing.

Facilitating for private investments and international cooperation is key to reach the 1.5-degree target.

It is our responsibility that the transition to clean energy does not lead to more inequalities. No-one must be left behind.

We believe the Global Coalition for Energy Planning will enhance international cooperation and capacity building in energy planning.

Norway welcomes the roadmap for Clean Cooking and commend the Brazilian Presidency for elevating this further on the global agenda. We are pleased to see that we stand together in this.

Furthermore, Norway fully supports the ambition of driving the energy transition through both zero- and low emission technologies, especially by increasing momentum for CCUS.

We have three decades of experience with:

• CCS research and development, and
• Safe storage of CO2 under the seabed.
• Norway also has the world’s largest and most flexible test facility for CO2 capture technology, and Europe’s first complete value-chain for CCS – the Longship project.
• We are happy to share our knowledge and experience with all of you.
• Mature economies have a special role to play in driving technological development to reduce carbon emissions.
