Statsministerens kommentar om vedtak i FNs sikkerhetsråd

«Det er både viktig og på høy tid at FNs sikkerhetsråd nå har vedtatt et tydelig krav om en umiddelbar våpenhvile på Gaza, for de drøyt to ukene som nå gjenstår av Ramadan. Nå må denne resolusjonen bli implementert på bakken uten forsinkelse.

Situasjonen på Gaza er uholdbar. Det er verdt å merke seg hvordan sikkerhetsrådet nå karakteriserer det som skjer på Gaza som en katastrofal humanitær situasjon. Samtidig understrekes det i resolusjonen at gislene må løslates. Israel må nå la humanitær bistand komme helt frem, og Hamas må uten forsinkelse løslate gislene.»

«It is both critical and long-awaited that the UN Security Council today has passed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, for the remaining two weeks of Ramadan. Now this resolution must be implemented on the ground without delay.

The situation in Gaza is unbearable. It is worth noting that the Security Council describes it as a «catastrophic humanitarian situation». Simultaneously, the resolution calls for an immediate release of the hostages. It is crucial that Israel now lets in more humanitarian assistance to all of Gaza, and that Hamas without delay releases all the hostages».
