Oslo, 28. October 1999. The Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, Foreign Minister Knut Vollebæk of Norway strongly condemns yesterday’s brutal attack on a UNHCR organised convoy of ethnic Serbs underway from Orahovac to Montenegro under KFOR protection. Such acts of violence are totally unacceptable and can not be tolerated.

All people of Kosovo should now look towards the future and put an end to the growing violence. They must realise that progress and sustainable development in Kosovo can not be achieved through revenge and hostile acts against other ethnic groups, but only through reconciliation and peaceful co-existence. In view of their own experiences, the Kosovar Albanians have a particular responsibility to safeguard the rights of all inhabitants of Kosovo, Chairman-in-Office Vollebæk says.
