Proposal on changes in The Peace Operations Service Act
The Government has put forward a proposal on changes in The Peace Operation Service Act (Ot.prp. nr. 35 (2001-2002), Norwegian text).
The act states the principle of voluntary recruitment of personnel to international peace operations. According to the present legislation the personnel can sign contracts for a two-year binding period, which can include out-of-area service for maximum one year. The Government’s proposal suggests that the binding period will be three years and that the personnel can serve in peace support operations for a two-year period. This will provide greater predictability and continuity for the process of personnel recruitment.
