Washington embassy closed Monday 29 October
The Norwegian embassy in Washington will remain closed today, Monday 29 October. The decision to close the embassy was taken after the US health authorities had recommended that an inspection be carried out of all institutions that receive their mail from the distribution centre where anthrax bacteria have been detected. The inspection is being performed today and a preliminary result will be available shortly.
One of the employees at the embassy was tested before the weekend because of influenza-like symptoms. The test results are at present uncertain. New tests have therefore been made and the results of these will soon be available.
In the present situation it has been decided that all the embassy employees are to be tested for anthrax. The results are expected to be available within a few days.
