Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister and LTTE’s chief negotiator meet in Oslo
In connection with the Sri Lanka Support Meeting in Oslo 25 November, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Mr. Ranil Wickremesinghe, and the Tamil Tigers’ (LTTE) chief negotiator, Mr. Anton Balasingham, will meet for the first time to discuss the ongoing peace process.
On Monday 25 November the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway will hold a Support Meeting for the Sri Lanka peace process. The conference is organised in consultation with the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE and is a part of Norway’s role as the facilitator of the peace process in Sri Lanka. The government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE have met twice for direct negotiations in Thailand. Both parties are convinced that it is now important to initiate humanitarian- and reconstruction projects that will improve the living conditions for the entire population and build further support for the ongoing negotiation process.
The meeting between Prime Minister Wickremesinghe and chief negotiator Balasingham will take place at Holmenkollen Park Hotel Sunday 24. November. There will be a photo opportunity after the meeting.
