Minister of International Development to attend World Bank annual meeting
The Minister of International Development will be headingNorway’s delegation to the World Bank annual meeting inWashingtonD.C.from 28 September to 3 October.Financing for the UN Millennium Development Goals is one of the main topics that will be discussed at the meeting.
During the annual meeting, the Minister will also have meetings with representatives of the World Bank and other development ministers in the Utstein group (Netherlands, UK, Sweden and Germany), and will participate in a debate on how poor countries can achieve a sustainable debt situation. She will also take part in a discussion with representatives of the World Bank and the IMF on what can be done to mobilise additional support for achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals.
The Minister of International Development will also have a number of meetings with US politicians, authorities and institutions, where issues such as the fight against HIV/AIDS and the grave situation in Sudan will be taken up.
