As a facilitator to the peace negotiations between the Government of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, Norway has held informal consultations with both parties in Oslo late August.

The Government of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines have now agreed to resume the formal peace negotiations which have been postponed since August 2004.

Consequently the government has withdrawn the notice of suspension of the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG).

The formal talks will resume in Oslo shortly.
