Minister of International Development to take part in signing ceremony for Sudan peace agreement

“I am very pleased that the Sudanese Government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) have now reached a final agreement that puts an end to 21 years of civil war in the country,” said Minister of International Development Hilde F. Johnson.

On Sunday 9 January Ms Hilde F. Johnson will attend the signing ceremony for the peace agreement in Nairobi, Kenya. Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki and a number of African leaders will take part, together with other representatives of the international community, including US Secretary of State Colin Powell and UK Secretary of State for International Development Hilary Benn. Ms Hilde F. Johnson will on behalf of the Norwegian Government
