MyPage launch postponed
The Citizens' web portal MyPage is going to be launched early in 2006. Even though all technical solutions will be ready before Christmas, a longer test period is needed before MyPage will be open to the public. Final launch date will be decided in the first half of January.
– We do not want to introduce MyPage before we have had ample time for testing and quality control. Our citizens should be able to trust that their information is being handled in a completely secure manner, says Minister of Modernisation, Ms Heidi Grande Røys.
The minister herself is very satisfied that the Security Portal as well as the MyPage solution will be in place before Christmas. This will provide sufficient testing time.
The minister is going to open the Security Portal on the 15 th> of December. The Security Portal is first going to be utilized by the portal for industry and commerce, Altinn. This will take place already on the 16 th> of December. For MyPage, however, more extensive testing is needed. Hence, MyPage will be launched in the first quarter of 2006.
– We are holding back on the
official opening until we are completely sure that everything is
functioning properly, says the Minister, who holds great hopes for
the future usefulness of MyPage:
– We have great ambitions for the further development of
MyPage. Firstly, we want to expand MyPage to include municipal
services in addition to services provided by the state. One example
could be electronic applications for kindergarten and day-care
places. Secondly, we want to expand MyPage to also include a
common secure mailbox for personal messages between individual
citizens and public offices. You should for instance be able to get
answers to applications, check your tax assessment and receive
notification that your car will have to be submitted to periodical
control – all collected in the same electronic mailbox.
The Ministry of Modernisation rents
the MyPage project with project participants from 6 different
agencies. The Security Portal is offered and run by the Bankenes
BetalingsSentral (BBS), a central clearing agency for payments
owned by Norwegian banks.
The Brønnøysund Register Center, a government body under the
Ministry of Trade and Industry, is responsible for the management
of the framework agreement. The MyPage solution, constructed by
Software Innovation, is managed by norway.no / norge.no.
