New committee to assess government film policy

A committee appointed by The Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs will look into the organisation of agencies, institutions and instruments in the film area. The committee will be chaired by Kristenn Einarsson, with members from the film industry as well as from the Nordic film institutes.

The committee’s report will be a central contribution to the work on the Parliament white paper on film, which is to be presented by the government in the spring session of 2007. The purpose of the report is to assess the adequacy of the current organisation of the government agencies and institutions in terms of the government’s aim to strengthen Norwegian film.

Matters for the committee to consider include the delimitation between the areas of responsibility of the government and the film industry, the organisation of the government agencies and institutions, the shared responsibility between government and regional bodies, measures to promote gender equality in the film area and measures to promote export of Norwegian film. The committee will submit their report by 7 December 2006.
