Statsministeren gratulerer EU med 50-årsjubileum

Statsminister Jens Stoltenberg har sendt brev på vegne av regjeringen til EUs president dette halvåret, Angela Merkel, der han gratulerer EU med 50-årsjubileumet. EUs bidrag til fred og stabilitet i Europa er enestående, skriver statsministeren.
"On behalf of the Norwegian government I would like to congratulate you on the 50th anniversary of the European Union. The anniversary marks an important milestone in European history. The contributions of the European Union to peace and prosperity on our continent are unprecedented. European unity has promoted democracy and the rule of law, overcoming the division of our continent.
Norway has excellent relations with the European Union and its member states. We are closely linked to the European Union through the EEA and the Schengen Agreeements. My government will continue to pursue an active European policy and contribute towards building a Europe characterized by solidarity and security.
I am confident that the ties between Norway and the European Union will always remain close and friendly, and I am looking forward to continuing our co-operation in the future.
