Norway's policy towards Israel. The letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Mr Silvan Shalom and to the Secretary of State, Dr. Condoleeza Rice
Finance minister Ms Kristin Halvorsen, made recently a statement to the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet in which she supports her party's position on a consumer boycott of Israel. The statement was made in her capacity as party leader of SV.
In order to eliminate any possible misrepresentation of Norway's policy towards Israel, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway on 5 January wrote a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel Mr. Silvan Shalom to restate Norways policy towards Israel. He also sent a copy of the letter to Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice.
The Norwegian government has never discussed nor considered a consumer boycott of Israel, and such a boycott is not the position of the Norwegina Government.
