Minister of International Development visits Sudan 14-18 November
The purpose of the visit is to discuss the implementation of the peace agreement for Sudan. During his visit, the Development Minister will go to Darfur and Juba. In Darfur he will be visiting a refugee camp. In Juba he will meet representatives of the new regional authorities.
“By making this visit, I wish to underline that the red-green government intends to continue Norway’s strong engagement for peace in Sudan,” said Development Minister Erik Solheim.
State Secretary Raymond Johansen and Ambassador Tom Vraalsen will be among those accompanying the minister. Ambassador Vraalsen was recently appointed chair of the Assessment and Evaluation Commission in Sudan, the international commission charged with monitoring the implementation of the peace agreement.
