Ibsen’s women are on their way out into the world.Their first stop will be Dresden.

The full name of the National Library of Norway’s exhibition is “Ibsen’s women – Nina Sundbye’s sculptures meet Ibsen’s manuscripts”. It has now been sent off by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to follow Ibsen’s footsteps through Europe to Egypt, where it will arrive at the end of October.

The first stop will be the new Stadtarchiv in Dresden. Henrik Ibsen moved to Dresden in 1868, and it was here that he published his first contemporary drama, The League of Youth, as well as Emperor and Galilean.

The exhibition links some of our great literary treasures in their original form together with the works of one of Norway’s most important and most widely recognised sculptors, Nina Sundbye. The exhibition in Stadtarchiv, Dresden, will be open from 1 to 30 June 2006.
